Working With E-Prime: An interesting essay which advocates the abolition of pretty much all uses of the verb "to be" in its many forms. Interesting enough that I might give it a try, anyway. Provides examples and explanations.|
Faith In The Game: An article that starts off with an interesting discussion of the differences between knowing something and knowing the name for it, and then moves to a science-versus-religion metaphor in the form of a game. I question a few of its points, like implying religion mainly exists to deal with ignorance, but I still recommend the read. One of these days I really must post some of my own thoughts on empiricism and religion, though. Hmmmm.
